Every year, Challenger fifth-through eighth-graders participate in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest, where students are able to refine their writing technique and embrace their creative ability. Essays are judged for historical accuracy, adherence to topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness. The topic for the 2021–2022 school year was “The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.”
