Sam L. (Traverse Mountain, UT) won first place in state for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) American History Essay Contest. He later took the overall first-place prize of all seventh graders nationwide!
Challenger fifth through eighth graders participate in the DAR Essay Contest, where students are able to refine their writing technique and embrace their creative ability. Essays are judged for historical accuracy, adherence to topic, organization of materials, interest, originality, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and neatness. The topic for the 2021 contest was the 250th anniversary of the Boston Massacre. Great job, Sam!
